Lakeview Park

Welcome to Lakeview Park

The best little park on Lake Grapevine!

Park hours: 5 am to 10 pm daily

Fees: Entry fee and boat launch fee required

Often overshadowed by its larger neighbors like Meadowmere or Oak Grove, Lakeview Park on Lake Grapevine is a premier destination for those seeking a tranquil, family-oriented lakeside experience. Spanning a scenic portion of the lake’s southern shoreline, this park is celebrated for its manageable size, clean facilities, and some of the best non-motorized water access in North Texas.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot to launch a kayak or a safe environment for a family picnic, this summary covers everything that makes Lakeview Park a must-visit.

A Premier Spot for Kayaking and Paddleboarding

One of the standout features of Lakeview Park is its dedicated Non-Motorized Launch. While many parks around Lake Grapevine can feel dominated by powerboats and jet skis, Lakeview caters specifically to the “quiet” water sports community.

  • Ease of Access: The non-motorized launch is positioned specifically to allow paddlers to unload their gear close to the water’s edge, minimizing the distance you have to carry heavy boards or kayaks.
  • Paddling Trails: From this point, you can easily access the Grapevine Lake Paddling Trail, a scenic route that winds along the shoreline toward Meadowmere Park.
  • Calm Waters: The park’s geography provides a bit of a buffer from the main body of the lake, often resulting in calmer conditions perfect for beginners practicing their balance on a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP).

Boating Facilities at Lakeview Park

For those with motorized watercraft, Lakeview Park offers two distinct boat ramps, each serving a slightly different purpose:

  1. Lakeview North Ramp: This is the primary ramp for most visitors. It features a single concrete lane and a sturdy floating courtesy dock that extends well into the lake, making it much easier to secure your boat while you park your trailer.
  2. Lakeview South Ramp: This ramp is tucked away and much smaller. It lacks a courtesy dock and has very limited parking (roughly 15 spaces), making it a “locals only” secret for those who want to avoid the busier main ramps during peak season.

Note: Because both ramps are single-lane, patience is key during summer weekends. If the Lakeview ramps are full, many boaters head to the nearby Oak Grove or McPherson Slough ramps.

Family Amenities and Recreation

Lakeview Park is designed for “passive recreation,” focusing on relaxation and nature rather than high-decibel activities.

  • The Two-Story Pavilion: A unique feature of this park is its large, two-story group pavilion. It offers an elevated view of Lake Grapevine, providing a cool breeze and shade even on the hottest Texas afternoons. It is available on a first-come, first-served basis unless reserved for an event.
  • Playgrounds and Swimming: The park features a modern playground with climbing structures and slides. Adjacent to the playground is a wide, sandy “beach” area designated for swimming. While there are no lifeguards on duty, the shallow entry makes it a popular spot for families with young children.
  • Picnic Sites: Numerous covered picnic tables with charcoal grills are scattered throughout the park. Many are positioned under mature oak trees, offering natural shade and a peaceful setting for a lakeside lunch.

Hiking and Nature Trails

The Lakeview Park Trails offer approximately 2.5 miles of hike-and-bike paths. These trails are a “treasure of native biodiversity,” winding through wooded sections that are home to fox squirrels, raccoons, and a variety of songbirds.

The trails at Lakeview are generally flatter and more accessible than the rugged cliffs found at Rockledge Park, making them ideal for a casual stroll or a family bike ride. They also provide several “pocket” views of the lake that are perfect for photography or bird watching.

Pro-Tips for Visitors

Zebra Mussel Warning: Like all of Lake Grapevine, Lakeview is under a boater advisory. Be sure to “Clean, Drain, and Dry” your boat and gear to prevent the spread of invasive species.

Arrive Early: Despite being “quieter,” Lakeview’s parking lots are smaller than those at Oak Grove. On summer Saturdays, the park can reach capacity by 11:00 AM.

No Ground Fires: While charcoal grills are provided at picnic sites, ground fires are strictly prohibited to protect the native vegetation.
